We are always on the lookout for new choir members. Stanmore Choral Society is a non-auditioned choir who draw members from Stanmore, Harrow, Kenton, Pinner, Ruislip, Watford, Bushey, Barnet, Edgware, Burnt Oak, Colindale, Wembley and Mill Hill. We meet weekly for enjoyable rehearsals, leading to concerts 3 or 4 times a year in nearby venues

If you enjoy singing (even if you haven’t been a member of a choir before), you are encouraged to come and join us. All voice parts (Soprano, Alto, Tenor & Bass) are welcome, and if you are not sure, we can advise! The music is learned through our rehearsals, as well as with listening and singing aids provided for each programme

We sing some bigger choral works, but also explore other idioms like Jazz, folk songs, (light) opera and musical theatre. See here for our upcoming programme of concerts.

Rehearsals are held at the church hall of St William of York, Du Cros Drive, Stanmore, HA7 4TJ . Our usual  rehearsal time, 7.45pm to 9.45pm . Nearest underground stations are Canons Park or Stanmore; there is also off-street parking. You can see our rehearsal schedule here.

The annual subscription is £175. What does this get you? 35+ rehearsals a year, with a professional musical director and accompanist, 4 concert opportunities at some beautiful venues singing some of the finest music ever written, with excellent soloists, and occasionally with instrumentalists and or orchestras. Guide tracks and music scores are also provided (although they can be bought if you wish to keep them).

BURSARIES & FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

The choir operates a small bursary scheme to enable students and others of limited means to participate in the choir’s singing activities in line with its charitable purposes.

Student bursaries are principally for younger singers (there is no formal age limit but usually recipients are under 25) who have some singing experience e.g. have sung in a school or church choir or have had singing lessons, and now want to gain experience singing in an adult choir.

Senior bursaries are open to people of any age who would be prevented from joining the choir for financial reasons.  Senior bursaries are awarded annually and may be renewed indefinitely.

If you would like to know more about joining the choir, or about the bursaries scheme, email enquiries@stanmore-choral.org.uk, providing your name, telephone number and address. All requests are dealt with confidentially
